a simple, beautiful life

Seaside Florida

It grew from the beach. Seaside founder Robert Davis knew the area well from family vacations in the 1940’s. Perhaps Seaside was realized in Robert’s mind, while daydreaming of those simple days. Seaside Florida

Davis collaborated with Miami architects Andres Duany and Elizabeth Plater-Zyberk to plan a beach community, modeled after a small town, that would revive a building tradition representative of Old Florida: creating wooden cottages accommodated to climate in such a way they encouraged community life at the sea.

Today, Seaside Fl is a meeting place for locals, virtually at the center of 30A. With its own book store, music store, coffee shop, market, restaurants, Seaside is a community hot spot. It even hosts our favorite: a popular Saturday morning tradition, the Seaside Fl farmers market.

Founded in 1979, Seaside Fl was the first New Urban community built from the ground up, and is the cultural hub of Northwest Florida. It was the choice location for the 1998 film, The Truman Show, starring Jim Carrey and Ed Harris.

Seaside Florida real estate offers a rare opportunity for small town life. Cottage homes, guest cottages and condos are for sale and for rent. Old Seagrove Beach real estate and WaterColor real estate neighbor Seaside, enhancing its quaint urban feel year round.

Life in Seaside means more time is spent on porches with friends and family; people stroll down beautiful pathways heading to and from the beach. This makes Seaside Fl real estate truly special.

Seaside Florida is unique to the world. It has inspired numerous developments here and abroad. The Seaside Institute encourages the building of sustainable communities through design and education.

Seaside Florida is more than the cultural centerpiece of 30A and Northwest Florida; it is a rare, living example of the highest design principles.  And a picture perfect setting in which to live your beach dream.

Experience why Newsweek says, “Seaside - with its cozy, narrow streets and its jumble of pastel-colored homes - is probably the most influential resort community since Versailles."
